carr hall, allegheny college : meadville, pa
a LEED gold showcase for the environmental sciences
Client: Allegheny College
The re-imagining of a legacy building from the 1960’s provides new facilities for Allegheny College’s nationally recognized Environmental Science Department. The centerpiece of the renovation, a transformed entry lobby incorporates solar tube daylighting, recycled and renewable materials, a living green wall with collected rain water irrigation, a school-managed aquaponics demonstration, and a specially commissioned wall sculpture by Pittsburgh artist Jan Loney. The project houses new classrooms, teaching labs, and faculty offices, achieving LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors.
